Human Resource Selection & Assessment
Designing VALID Selection Systems with AI and Evidence-Based Methods
From theory to practice: designing a complete Selection Plan through scientific methods, AI, and operational tools.
Course Description
Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming both the way organizations recruit and the way candidates prepare for selection processes.
AI-optimized CVs, automatically generated cover letters, interview preparation chatbots, and increasingly automated screening systems are making a long-standing problem even more visible: many selection processes still rely on poorly predictive and weakly structured methods.
This course introduces the VALID model, an evidence-based approach to selection and assessment that integrates:
- scientific evidence;
- empirically validated tools;
- AI-based operational support systems.
The objective is to provide participants with a practical framework to:
- design more scientific selection processes;
- reduce bias and decision-making errors;
- build a complete Selection Plan in dramatically reduced time.
During the course, participants will use AI-supported VALID tools to work on:
- expected performance;
- Work-Related Characteristics (WRC);
- assessment tools and tests;
- structured interviews;
- scoring systems and candidate comparison.
The course combines theoretical foundations with practical workshops, allowing participants to design a complete selection process that can also be applied without technological tools.
Target Audience
This course is designed for:
- Work and Organizational / Occupational Psychologists;
- HR Specialists;
- Recruiters;
- HR Managers.
Course Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- design a complete Selection Plan;
- select assessment tools aligned with job requirements;
- generate structured interviews;
- produce comparable outputs and candidate evaluations;
- integrate AI and scientific methods into HR processes.
AI and Method
Throughout the course, participants will use AI-supported VALID tools to:
- explore occupations and professional profiles;
- identify relevant predictors of performance;
- support the selection of assessment tools;
- generate structured interviews;
- accelerate the design of Selection Plans.
AI does not replace the method.
It makes the method scalable.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- understand the principles of scientific selection;
- apply the VALID model;
- identify candidate characteristics that truly predict performance;
- select assessment tools aligned with the role;
- design structured interviews;
- use AI to accelerate the design of selection processes;
- transform evaluations into comparable scores and indicators;
- understand the ROI of selection.

Final Note
The VALID method can also be applied without technological tools.However, the use of structured systems supported by data and AI dramatically reduces design time, increases consistency, and improves the quality of selection decisions.
In this sense, the course does not simply teach how to “use AI in recruitment.” It teaches how to design scientific selection processes that AI can make faster, scalable, and more defensible.
Documentation
The documentation used in the classroom will be made available to participants for consultation through the huract.online LMS (Learning Management System) for one year from the course date.
